MicroFlex is a high performance pre-insulated energy saving pex-A flexible carrier piping system.Plastic pipes have more than proved their quality in recent years. They are flexible, heat and pressure resistant, non-corrosive and lightweight. They are perfect for low pressure (less than 100 psi) and temperature (less than 200 degrees) plumbing, heating, snowmelt lines, chilled water, swimming pool, chemical and food transportation applications.MicroFlex is manufactured with a thermal (CFC free) insulation barrier around a pex-A carrier pipe and covered by a double walled "closed chamber" jacket.MicroFlex pipe is low weight and extremely flexible it can be easily installed over, under, around obstacles and corners, without special tools.MicroFlex is available in single/uno (up to 63mm) and double/duo (pipe up to 110 mm) with a complete line of accessories and fittings.

| PEX-a carrier pipe | |||
| The carrier or medium transport pipe as it is often called used by Microflex is a PEX-a pipe (the Engel Method, which is manufactured according to DIN standards). Pex-a carrier pipes provide significant benefits. Outstanding thermal properties The Pex-a pipe itself has been tested for a considerable time at a temperature of 203 degrees Fahrenheit/87 psi for heating and 203 degrees Fahrenheit/145 psi for sanitary applications (in accordance to DIN 16893). It can also withstand temperature surges up to 230F. The impact strength is even constant at temperatures below 212 degrees Fahrenheit. | |||
| Proven long-term strength | |||
| With a temperature dependent supply temperature (i.e. 194 degrees Fahrenheit winter and 158 degrees Fahrenheit summer) and an operating pres sure of 73-87 psi, tests carried out by major testing bodies in a number of countries show that the expected life time can be calculated to be more than 100 years. | |||
| Chemical resistance | |||
| Most chemicals have no influence on the pipe, even at elevated temperatures. Chemicals usually causing hair cracks in other materials do not corrode Pex-a. | |||
| High abrasion resistance | |||
| Pex-a pipes provide an enhanced abrasion resistance and durability. Pipes conveying aggressive sludge at fairly high velocities do not corrode. | |||
| Low roughness | |||
| The smooth bore offers less resistance to flow than conventional pipes resulting in excellent flow characteristics with minimal flow loss without formation of any sediment deposits. | |||
| Environmentally friendly | |||
| Pex-a is free from pollutants. The pipe imparts neither tase nor odor and is non-toxic, thus ideally suited for different branches of the food industry. | |||
| Physiological behavior | |||
| Pex-a pipes comply with international drinkable water quality requirements. | |||
| Insulating material | |||
| The insulating material used cons is ts of microcellular, cross-linked polyethylene foam. In addition to the excellent insulating properties, the closed-cell structure of the material ensures that there is only minimal water absorption. The material is CFC free. | |||
| Corrugated HDPE jacket | |||
| The jacket, made of HDPE , protects both the carrier pipe and the insulating material from external influences. The corrugation pattern provides flexibility in the longitudinal direction and excellent rigidity against radial forces. The construction is very solid, watertight and resistant to aggressive substances. | |||
| Dimensions of coils | |||
| Microflex pipes are light and flexible. The standard length of 1 coil is 328 ft. Tailored lengths can be cut. The coils can be conveyed by ordinary means of transport. | |||
- What is the closed chamber principle and why is it so important?
- What type of pex pipe is used and up to what sizes?
- Is MicroFlex very flexible?
- What lengths do MicroFlex pipe come in?
- What if I need a 500 foot length?
- If I select MicroFlex for a project, do you have everything I need to install the system?
- How do I transition from plastic to metal piping system?
The closed chamber design of our HDPE outer jacket provides double wall protection against breaking the outer jacket seal. This is very important in all underground installations and prevents ground water from penetrating into the insulation. Water soaked insulation dramatically looses its insulation value and reduces system performance.
Microflex uses pex-A pipe manufactured to ASTM and NSF standards using the "Engel method" and is available from 25mm to 110mm pipe sizes in UNO (one pipe) and 28mm to 63mm in DUO (two pipe).
Compared to our competitors, MicroFlex installs much quicker because our insulated pipes are very flexible. We are more flexible because we have more corrugations per inch than our competitors. As an example we can bend our 1" UNO (single) to a 12" inside radius.
All MicroFlex pipe comes in full coils of 328 feet. It is also available cut to length for specific projects and applications.
We would offer a full 328' coil and a 272' cut to length piece.
We offer a complete selection of accessories and connection systems ranging from insulation box elbows, tees, wall sleeves, inspection chambers, shrink and dust caps.
We offer the most complete large diameter fitting options in the industry.
